Core Features & Technology

  • Heavy-Duty Undercarriage: Unlike many competitors in the 29-ton class, the PC290LC-11 is built on PC300-class undercarriage components. This gives it a wider track gauge and a larger footprint, providing exceptional over-the-side stability and lifting capacity that punches well above its weight class.

  • Komatsu SAA6D107E-3 Engine: This 6.7L, 196 hp engine is Tier 4 Final certified. For 2022, it utilizes a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (KVGT) that adjusts airflow based on load, providing better throttle response and higher torque at lower RPMs to save fuel.

  • CLSS Hydraulics with Speed Matching: The Closed-Center Load Sensing System (CLSS) ensures that all hydraulic flow is used efficiently. The machine features “Variable Speed Matching,” which automatically adjusts the engine speed to match the hydraulic pump output, whether you are doing precision finishing or heavy bulk digging.

  • One-Touch “Power Max” Function: A button on the joystick allows the operator to instantly increase hydraulic pressure for 8.5 seconds. This provides an 8% boost in digging force—perfect for popping out a stubborn stump or breaking through a hard clay shelf.

  • Six Working Modes: The 2022 model offers specialized modes: Power, Economy, Lifting, Breaker, Attachment Power, and Attachment Economy. The “Attachment Economy” mode is a highlight, allowing you to run hydraulic tools while keeping the engine in a fuel-saving state.

Operator Comfort & Maintenance

  • Komatsu SpaceCab™: The ROPS-certified cab is mounted on viscous isolation dampers that significantly reduce the “shudder” felt when the bucket hits the ground. It features a high-back, heated air-suspension seat as standard, which can be fully reclined for breaks.

  • Proportional Joystick Controls: The joysticks come standard with proportional sliding switches for auxiliary hydraulics. This allows for smooth, finger-tip control of thumb attachments or tilting buckets, replacing the clunky foot pedals found in older designs.

  • Enhanced 7-Inch Monitor: The high-resolution color monitor serves as the command center. It features an “Ecology Guidance” display that gives the operator real-time tips on how to operate more fuel-efficiently and provides a dedicated gauge for Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) levels.

  • Large Side-by-Side Cooling: To prevent overheating in dusty conditions, Komatsu uses a side-by-side radiator and oil cooler. This makes the cores much easier to clean out with an air compressor compared to “stacked” designs where debris gets trapped between layers.

  • Komtrax Telematics: As a 2022 model, it is fully integrated with Komatsu’s latest monitoring system. It sends data to your phone or computer regarding fuel consumption, idle time, and even “Operator IDs” to track which driver is being the most efficient on the jobsite.
